Design Goals

Badlands was part of a level design challenge to create a nightclub level that would belong in the Deus Ex universe, and to incorporate those mechanics into the design. I used Unreal Engine 4 for this level.

  • Design a level that fits mechanically in the Deus Ex universe, allowing for branching paths in the layout and multiple ways to complete objectives.

  • Implement multicolored lighting into my blockout to highlight key areas.

  • Maintain a believable nightclub scale.

  • Design within the constraints of a 3 day time limit.
